Our team identified and trained 8 local youth and empowered 28 locals through our Heritage Management Workshop. They will carry out the critical task of inventory and survey and other onsite tasks in the coming days. All of these will be digitized soon. This is an essential step in preserving Dolpo’s rich history for future generations.

But why focus on training local youth?

Empowering the local community, in particular the youth, with the skills to document and conserve heritage sites is a cornerstone of sustainability. They are the stewards of tomorrow, and by equipping them today, we ensure that the knowledge of preserving cultural treasures is passed down, protecting these sites long after the project ends. By involving the next generation in heritage conservation, we’re laying the groundwork for long-term stewardship that will benefit communities for years to come.

This project is funded by the British Council's #CulturalProtectionFund in partnership with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport
